“The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to

the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.” – Gloria Steinem

Gender justice shouldn’t be a discussion, it should be a given, yet it is not. Equal opportunity, equal pay, and equal safety and respect are still conditions women across the globe are fighting hard for. On March 8th, we pay tribute to the many and multifaceted feminist trailblazers of the past, such as Theresa Malkiel, Gloria Steinem and bell hooks to name a few, as well as celebrate current-day female heroes like Malala Yousafzai and movements such as #metoo, Time’s Up and the Women’s March, that struggle to end sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression.

In honour of International Women’s Day, I collaborated with photographer Anouk Nitsche and hair & makeup artist Ana Sánchez-Peña to create a conscious fashion story set in Barcelona, starring Aki Yoneda and her three daughters Ririko, Niko and Koko. It is a tale of growing into womanhood, motherhood, unity, and empowerment.
